Sheltered bay at Glendale | |
Duirnish is the most western of Skye's peninsulas. Its two MacLeod's tables can be spotted from far away.
The landscape of Duirnish is also one of high cliffs going straight to the water.
There are few settlements on Duirnish. Glendale is a cute little bay with a restored water mill. A bit
further along this bay, one finds the small port of Meanish.

The most reknown cliffs of Duirnish are those of Neist Point. There are few roads going inward on Duirnish.
Nowadays Duirnish is a kingdom of ewes and for hillwalkers. This was not always so as can be seen on a walk
going to the remains of a settlement emptied by the clearances, Lorgill. This walk start at Ramasaig, the
settlement at the end of the road going the furthest inside Duirnish. A path goes on from the end of the road
and leads to the ghost settlement of Lorgill, one of the numerous settlements emptied by the clearances. The walk
comes back to the starting point going alongside the high cliffs of the Hoe. (see the directions for this walk
in the "pathfinder Skye and the North West Highlands." guide)
